To address this query from users, 9to5mac performed a preliminary test on iPhone 15 Pro Max and after updating the iPhone to 17.0.3 compared its performance with 17.0.1 and 17.0.2 running iPhone 15 Pro.
As per their observation, the new iPhone 15 Pro running on 17.0.1 scored 2914 on Single-core and 7199 on multi-core in their initial Geekbench 5 results.
When 9to5mac updated the iPhone 15 Pro Max with the latest iOS 17.0.3, and ran the performance test. They found the iPhone 15 Pro Max scored 2875 on Single-core and 7006 on multi-core. It was a bit downward performance score. Then they waited for about 2 hours to settle their iPhone down and performed the test again.
This time they observed their iPhone 15 Pro Max scored 2941 on Single-core and 7523 on Multi-core. This time the performance graph was upward.
Significantly, 9to5mac stated that the performance of a phone depends on its current temperature as well as the battery level. Because the lower the battery, iOS will slow the phone to save it from instant discharge.
Hence based on the results, it is interpreted that the latest 17.0.3 update will not slow down the iPhone 15 Pro Models.
